Sri Santhana Lakshmi

Once after the marriage, after few months, the common questions people ask to the couples is that any news about any child. So, this clearly indicates how important children after the marriage. By the grace of Sri Santhana Lakshmi, women give birth to children. "Puthra Santhanam" refers to the childbirth and this happens through Sri Santhana Lakshmi.

Every mother likes her children and she gives her complete love and it is reflected in each and every state of the children's growth. Her love and affection and a calculated one. Likewise, all the jeevathmas living in this world the children of Sri Santhana Lakshmi and her grace is extended to all.

Padmakshan and Sri Santhana Lakshmi:

Once, there lived a king by named Padmakshan who ruled his kingdom with lots of good needs done for his peoples. And, he too had a great bhakti towards the perumal. Once, he did severe tapas towards Sri Lakshmi and asked the varam that Sri Lakshmi has to be born as his child. But, Sri Lakshmi said that she is the wife of Sriman Narayanan and he takes care of her. So, to give this varam, Sriman Narayanan has to give this varam but not Sri Lakshmi. And Sri Lakshmi added that he should make the tapas towards Sriman Narayanan to get Sri Lakshmi as his child.

And after hearing this, Padmakshan did tapas towards Sriman Narayanan and finally, got the varam that Sri Lakshmi will be born as his child. As the result of the Varam, Sri Lakshmi born as the child for Padmakshan. They kept her name as "Padmai".

As the year passed, Sri Lakshmi grew and Padmakshan though of his daughter. So, he ordered for the Swayamvaram to happen. He called up all the kings to participate in the Swayamvaram.

In the palace, lots of kings and Asuras also came for the swayamvaram, the kingdom and the palace sparked in brightness. And finally, Padmai came to the place where all the kings, Asuras etc., where present. On seeing the beauty of Padmai, all the kings were starred. Seeing this scene Padmakshan thought that no one is equivalent in terms of beauty of his daughter and thought. She should be married to be a beautiful person. So, he announced that who ever smears the blue colour of the sky in their body, would get married to his daughter.

And on hearing, this all the kings and Asuras etc., thought he is making fool of themselves, and all got angry towards him. As a result of this, there was a war between Padmakshan and the Asuras. Finally, the Asuras killed Padmakshan. Having heard about this, Padmai jumped into the fire. On hearing this, all the Asuras and king, left that place. After sometimes, Padmai emerged from the fire and saw the kingdom as it was destroyed completely. She thought the entire disaster is because of her. So, near the fire, she started to perform tapas towards Sriman Narayanan.

The "Aanandha Ramayanam" says this Padmai was born as "Sita Piratti" to Janakar while he was grounding the land.

"Ennai Petra Thaayar - Thiru Nindravoor and Mulai Payir vilaivitha thaayar - Thiruputkuzhi etc., in these Divyadesams, the thaayar are considered as the Hamsam of Sri Santhana Lakshmi and people without children are advised to visit these Divyadesams to get the Anugraham of Sri Santhana Lakshmi and to earn a great child.
